Valparaiso University Boasts Newly Renamed Master’s in Healthcare Administration Degree

Valparaiso University’s online students with dreams of becoming healthcare administrators just got a boost for their resumes thanks to a name change for the school’s online master’s degree program. Launched in September 2013 as the Master of Science in Health Management and Policy, the 100% online program will be known as the Master of Science in Healthcare Administration beginning with the Fall I session.

University leadership decided to make the name changes after research showed the healthcare administration degree is more commonly recognized by employers. This paves the way for future graduates to stand out more to potential employers. No changes in faculty or curriculum accompany the name change.

“Valparaiso graduates raise the bar for healthcare industry management,” said Dr. David Rowland, Former Associate Provost and Dean, Graduate School. “Their high ethical standards and skill at coordinating, directing and managing in the healthcare industry sets them apart. The name of the degree they earn should, as well.”

Valparaiso University’s online Healthcare Administration graduate degree offers four distinct specializations to better suit student goals while offering career flexibility: Health Informatics, Gerontology, Forensic Health and Strategic Leadership. Students in the program must complete 36 graduate credit hours, including 27 credits in core areas and nine in their specialization to graduate. With 100 percent online classes, busy students are able to complete their degree requirements utilizing a video-based e-learning system.
