Valparaiso University Announces Tuition Grants for Student Veterans

Valparaiso University is pleased to announce its support for educating United States veterans through the Department of Veteran Affairs Yellow Ribbon Program. The program offers eligible veterans and their dependents a grant equaling the in-state tuition at the highest-priced public institution in Indiana.

The private, independent Lutheran institution – named one of the top ten regional universities in the Midwest every year since 1990 by U.S. News & World Report – matches yellow ribbon with Patriot Award grants to supplement federal education benefits for eligible veterans with at least 36 months of active duty since September 11, 2001.

The combined awards cover the cost of Valparaiso University’s standard tuition and general fees.

“At Valparaiso, we are proud to support our military veterans as they pursue a higher education,” said Dr. David Rowland, Associate Provost and Dean, Graduate School. “Our administration is constantly seeking new opportunities to help students succeed.”

The university plans to award up to 100 undergraduate students, 14 graduate students and 6 law school students more than $22,000 in total Patriot Awards.

To be eligible, veterans and their dependents must qualify for the federal program, meet admissions requirements, and be certified through the Department of Veteran Affairs.

Financial awards are granted on a first-come, first-served basis and are renewable for students who maintain satisfactory levels of academic progress and conduct.
