ECHO Celebrates Earth Week, Sustainable Innovation with 7th Annual Earth Week MudFest

In celebration of Earth Day 2012, ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center, at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain in Vermont, will host the 7th annual ECHO Earth Weeks’ MudFest. From April 21 – 29, 10am – 4pm, visitors will be educated and entertained with mud-themed interactive activities, games, eco-exhibitions and “Muddy Music” from acclaimed local musicians.

ECHO hosts this annual event to help raise awareness of Earth Week and the importance of sustainable innovation. Sustainability is a growing trend that addresses environmental responsibility and can be applied across all aspects of life. As a state, Vermont has long stood as a leader in sustainable innovation. For decades, organizations across the state have been actively involved in spreading the word about sustainability to a growing global audience.

The University of Vermont, a U.S. News & World Report-ranked and regionally accredited university, is leading the effort in Vermont to emphasize sustainability practices for businesses and college campuses across the globe. UVM currently offers two sustainability certificate programs 100% online that help train organization leaders in this critical, in-demand field. The Advanced Certificate in Sustainable Innovation is aimed at giving business professionals the expertise to develop and maintain environmental, economic and social responsibility in the business setting. The Advanced Certificate in Campus Sustainable Innovation engages students, faculty and staff to transform their entire campus environment into a sustainable and responsible institution.

Powered by University Alliance technology, their instructor-led, video-based e-learning platform features streaming video lectures with 24/7 access, live chat rooms, discussion boards and email.

“Sustainability is proving to be a critical strategic initiative for organizations of all types who not only want to implement eco-friendly practices, but also increase profitability,” said Adrian Marrullier, Executive Vice President of University Alliance. “The University of Vermont's online programs offer the information that businesses need to successfully bring these practices into their organization.”

The 100% online environment of UVM’s sustainability courses allows students to access classes anytime and anywhere an Internet connection is available. This provides the convenience and flexibility so important to today’s busy business professionals and students.
