The University of Scranton congratulates the following scholarship recipients for the Special Spring 2012, Part A session:

After Kimberly Wilkerson Daniels was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, she lives out her message to students that “nothing can stop them.” She tells her students that “I teach because I like knowing that a little part of me may become part of them and help them grow into thoughtful citizens. I can’t imagine a better way to improve the world.”

Peter Dubon started his career as a scientist but was inspired to teach after serving as a tutor and volunteering with special needs children. “I have found the perfect job in which I have incorporated my love for science with my ability to help others.”

“The University of Scranton recognizes the professional achievements of these dedicated educators and congratulates them on being chosen for the Bisk Foundation Scholarship,” said W. Jeffrey Welsh, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Graduate and Continuing Education at The University of Scranton. “We are proud to be able to help support their continued education and success.”

The University of Scranton’s master’s in education online program, which is nationally ranked among the Top Online Programs by U.S. News & World Report, gives students 24/7 access to instructor-led streaming video lectures, online discussion boards and live chat rooms. With the availability of scholarships for teachers, and the flexibility and convenience of a video-based e-learning program powered by University Alliance technology, it is a great time for outstanding educators to consider pursuing a master’s degree in education online.

These scholarships help working teachers excel in today’s academic environment by earning a Master of Science in Education. Students in the Curriculum and Instruction degree program gain valuable skills to strengthen their classroom teaching, while students in the Educational Administration program learn proven techniques for managing complex school environments. All programs are offered 100% online, meaning campus visits are not required.

For the Special Spring 2012, Part A session, the scholarship is valued at 25% of the 2011-2012 tuition cost. Recipients will receive these special tuition rates as long as they remain an active student in good academic and financial standing in one of The University of Scranton’s programs.
