The University of Scranton, a regionally accredited and U.S. News & World Report-ranked university, in collaboration with University Alliance, congratulates Susan Holczer as the winner of the Bisk Foundation Teacher Education Scholarship for the Special Summer 2014, Part A Session.

Holzcer is pursuing a Master of Science in Educational Administration through The University of Scranton’s 100% online master’s degree program, which is powered by University Alliance.  

Holczer, a teacher at C.D. Hylton Senior High in Woodbridge, Va., believes in collaborating with peers to produce the best possible results for students.

“One of the main lessons I have learned is no one truly succeeds alone,” Holczer wrote in her application essay. “As an administrator, my goal would be to support connections between teachers, foster new ones and encourage a school environment where every child is given a chance to succeed.”

Assistant Principal Eric A. Switzer describes Holczer as a reliable team player with a high degree of professionalism that enjoys positive relationships with students and parents.

Jeffrey Welsh, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Graduate and Continuing Education. “Her commitment to pursuing an advanced degree to for the benefit of her students and fellow teachers is commendable.”

Each year, The University of Scranton awards sixteen scholarships to first-time students in its online Master of Science in Education programs.

The scholarship provides winners with a quarter of the tuition cost for either the Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction or the Master of Science in Educational Administration.

Courses in both graduate programs are 100% online and powered by University Alliance’s video-based e-learning platform, which features streaming and downloadable lectures, professor-led interactive discussion boards and online chat rooms.

Holczer, who attended The University of Scranton as an undergraduate, is looking forward to the opportunity to continue her studies at the prestigious university, she wrote.

“I am very familiar with the rigor of the curriculum, the dedication of the professors and the high standing the university holds in the community,” Holczer wrote.
