The University of Scranton, a U.S. News & World Report-ranked university, is pleased to announce Emily Martinac as a Bisk Foundation Teacher Education Scholarship winner for the Special Fall 2013, Part B session.

The scholarship will provide Martinac, of Marion, Mississippi, with 25% savings on tuition through her graduation from the regionally accredited university, where she is a first-time student in the Master of Science (MS) in Curriculum and Instruction program, which is offered 100% online.

Martinac seeks to make a connection with each of her elementary school students, helping them realize the importance of a strong educational foundation. She implemented creative teaching methods, and focused her students on the importance of respecting themselves and each other. As a result, Martinac witnessed a turnaround in her students’ attitudes and enthusiasm for learning.

Supervisors note Martinac’s ability to help her students mature while holding them accountable in a nurturing way.

Jeffrey Welsh, PhD, Dean of the College of Graduate and Continuing Education. “We enthusiastically support the efforts of outstanding teachers who are committed to their students and to gaining new skills through advanced education.”

Exceptional educators who are first-time students in The University of Scranton’s 100% online MS in Curriculum and Instruction and MS in Educational Administration programs are eligible for the Bisk Foundation scholarships.
