Jacksonville University Announces New Online MSN Degree Program Course Requirements to Benefit Nursing Students

Nurses play a pivotal role in healthcare today and U.S. News & World Report-ranked Jacksonville University is committed to helping working nurses gain the education they need through its 100% online courses.

The regionally accredited, private, nonprofit university is making requirement changes to its Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs beginning in Fall 2012 that will allow nurses to earn degrees faster due to lower credit hour requirements. The new curriculum will be delivered in an eight-week format instead of a 16-week format. Currently enrolled students will soon adopt the new curriculum.

The current MSN: Nursing Education degree will now be called MSN: Clinical Nurse Educator, and requires 33 credits for completion. The MSN: Leadership in Healthcare Systems degree will now require 30 credits. Both formerly required 36 credits. The core curriculum remains at 18 credits for both degrees.

“Jacksonville University is committed to helping our master’s degree candidates fulfill their dream of earning an MSN degree,” says Dr. Michelle Edmonds, Director of Graduate Programs at Jacksonville University School of Nursing. “We’re excited about the upcoming changes to our MSN degree program and the positive impact they will have on our students.”

The 100% online e-learning platform, powered by University Alliance technology, includes live chat rooms, discussion boards and email access that allow today’s hard-working nurses to study at their own pace and at times that are most convenient for them. Jacksonville University is an excellent option for working nurses who are looking to further their education and career by earning a master’s degree.
