Jacksonville University Congratulates Recipient of Online RN to BSN Honor Scholarship

Jacksonville University, a U.S. News & World Report-ranked and regionally accredited university, is delighted to announce Katerina Barnett as the winner of its Online RN to BSN Honor Scholarship for the Summer II, 2013 session.

Barnett has been a registered nurse in the emergency department of Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg, Ohio, since 2007. The scholarship will provide her with tuition savings of 25% on Jacksonville University (JU) online RN to BSN nursing classes, through graduation.

Originally from the Czech Republic, Barnett faced the challenge of adapting her overseas training to the U.S. job market. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, Barnett hopes to combine her interest in patient care with her dream of becoming a professor, including attaining a Master of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University.

“I believe that my journey is just beginning and I can give so much more – both to my patients and hopefully to my future students,” she wrote in her scholarship essay.

Each year, JU awards six scholarships to first-time students in its RN to BSN online degree program.

“Through our Online RN to BSN Honor Scholarships, Jacksonville University is committed to helping exceptional RNs such as Katerina Barnett to develop their skills and knowledge,” said Andra Opalinski, PhD, ARNP-BC, CEN, CNE, and director of RN to BSN Programs at the JU School of Nursing.

Featuring a 100% online classroom, streaming video lectures and live chat rooms, JU’s online RN to BSN degree program provides anytime, anywhere access to registered nurses seeking to bolster their educational and professional qualifications. The online program is powered by University Alliance technology.

Applications for the Jacksonville University Online RN to BSN Honor Scholarship for the Spring I, 2014 session are being accepted through Dec. 18. For further information, interested RNs can contact a program representative at 855-300-1472 or apply online at www.jacksonvilleu.com/nursing-school-scholarships.
