Jacksonville University and University Alliance Announce Spring I, 2014, Scholarship Winner

Peggy C. Persick, a registered nurse devoted to caring for the most vulnerable of patients, has been recognized with an RN to BSN Honor Scholarship by U.S. News & World Report-ranked Jacksonville University.

Persick will receive more than $3,500 in tuition savings to take nursing classes through Jacksonville University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing online degree program. She hopes eventually to attain her Master of Science in Nursing from the regionally accredited university.

Persick is an RN in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital in Mobile, Alabama, and said her passion is for the “premature, sick babies I have nurtured and nursed.”

“It is not about money as there will never be enough to compensate for what nurses endure to help others,” she wrote in her scholarship essay.

JU awards six scholarships annually to newly enrolled students in its online RN to BSN program. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.4 and demonstrate that they have positively impacted the lives of others.

Persick said her ultimate goal is to teach other nurses who share her devotion to “wanting to help people.”

JU’s online RN to BSN degree program features a professor-led 100% online classroom that provides working nurses with 24/7 access to video-based lectures. Class sessions last eight weeks and RNs with active U.S. licenses can receive 30 credit hours.
