Mother of 3 Awarded Jacksonville University’s RN to BSN Honor Scholarship

Tanya Webb, a registered nurse who has dedicated her career to assisting patients undergoing surgery, has been honored with U.S. News & World Report-ranked Jacksonville University’s RN to BSN Honor Scholarship for the Summer I term.

Webb will receive a $3,575 grant toward her tuition for online nursing courses.

“The choice to obtain my BSN forever changed my life and the lives of my family,” Webb wrote in her scholarship application. “Without this advancement in my education, I would have not been a candidate for the promotion to facility administrator.”

Webb works at the Gulf Coast Outpatient Surgery Center in Biloxi, Miss., where she oversees day-to-day clinical operations. Her medical career began in 2001 when she entered the field as a surgical technician. Discovering she had a passion for the field, Webb enrolled in nursing classes and claimed her first RN position in 2008.

Jacksonville University awards $21,450 in scholarships annually to recognize outstanding nurses in the online RN to BSN program. The scholarship is earmarked to help nurses already making a difference in other’s lives fulfil their own dreams of doing more with their careers. To qualify, nurses must have a 3.4 GPA.

“For nurses with advanced degrees, the opportunities are endless,” Webb said.

Jacksonville University serves students nationwide who are interested in advancing their educational credentials. Its online RN to BSN program enables students such as Webb to earn advanced degrees while continuing to work in the field thanks to flexible scheduling, professor-led live chat rooms and 24/7 access to video lectures. The video-based e-learning platform is powered by University Alliance.

RNs with active licenses can receive 30 credit hours toward their degree. In addition, up to 60 credits meeting JU’s pre-requisite requirements can be transferred from regionally accredited schools.

JU also offers online MSN degree programs featuring 100% online courses.

Aside from its honor scholarship, Jacksonville University helps students fund their dreams by providing assistance in seeking out grants, scholarships and loans.

Florida residents interested in the school’s online programs can access grants through the Florida Student Assistance Grant (FRAG) program.
