Florida Tech Responds to the Creation of 288,000 Healthcare Jobs With Expanded Program Offerings

U.S. News & World Report-ranked Florida Tech has added a new Mini MBA For-Credit Graduate Certificate with a specialization in Healthcare Management to its program offerings. The unique Mini MBA joins existing undergraduate and graduate healthcare management degrees online, which include associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The decision to expand was prompted by the release of the Bureau of Labor Statistics 2010-11 Occupational Outlook Handbook, which reports that over the past year, an average of 24,000 jobs have been added to the healthcare sector each month, with a 16% increase in employment expected through 2018. This substantial development will produce greater demand for experienced, knowledgeable employees. With a degree or graduate certificate from Florida Tech, students can stand apart from the competition and position themselves for advancement.

Students enrolled in one of the four healthcare management programs will first gain a strong foundation of core business principles, learning key concepts applicable to every industry. From there, students will delve into their healthcare management specialization, acquiring a strong command of current healthcare issues and policies, including the structure, finance and cultural values of U.S. healthcare systems. “To succeed in today’s competitive job market, it’s no longer enough to be an expert in your own field,” says Dr. S. Ann Becker, Dean of the Florida Institute of Technology’s Nathan M. Bisk College of Business. “With Florida Tech’s programs, students not only increase their knowledge within their healthcare specialization, but in other aspects of business as well. That’s very important to employers, and can really help students to get ahead.”

Another benefit of Florida Tech’s programs is that they are delivered 100% online through an e-learning system powered by University Alliance, the largest facilitator of online learning in the country. Students will interact with faculty and fellow classmates, engaging in streaming video lectures which allow them to pause, rewind and review at their own pace. They can also download MP3 and MP4 lectures to watch and listen on the go, connecting from home, work or mobile device.

Students completing the AA, BA and MBA healthcare management degrees online will receive the same diploma as main-campus students, while the healthcare management Mini MBA provides a career-building credential that can revitalize a resume. Students enrolled in a Mini MBA online program take some of the same courses as graduate-level students, but the accelerated format allows them to complete their studies in as little as 8 months. In addition, the program provides them with graduate semester-credit hours; if students decide to pursue a healthcare management MBA online through Florida Tech in the future, they will already be 1/3 of the way there.

Admission for each program is on a continual basis. For more details, and to discover how it can help you achieve your professional and personal goals, visit http://www.floridatechonline.com/.
