Dominican University Invites Prospective Master of Arts in Education Students To Virtual Open House

Teachers looking to earn their master’s degree in education are invited to experience U.S. News & World Report-ranked and regionally accredited Dominican University’s (DU) 100% online classroom during a Virtual Open House on November 30. Prospective students will interact with administrators from the university’s School of Education and learn how DU’s quality Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) curriculum is delivered via multimedia video-based lectures.

The Virtual Open House presentation will provide educators with an opportunity to preview the online classroom structure, featuring streaming video lectures, discussion boards, email and sample assignments. Presenters Bridget Burns (Director of Online Programs, School of Education) and Sister Colleen McNicholas (Dean Emerita of the School of Education) will discuss the three degree programs available and provide an overview of the curriculum for the MAEd in Reading, MAEd in Elementary Education and MAEd in English as a Second Language.

The presenters will also provide details on the application process and deadlines, review opportunities for financial aid and scholarships, and explain the benefits of online education. Dominican’s MAEd students study at their own pace and earn the same degree as on-campus students in as few as 18 months. Eight-week sessions start six times throughout the year, making it convenient to pursue a degree online.

“We are thrilled to meet with prospective students during this live session. Our Virtual Open House will provide greater insight into the quality MAEd programs Dominican University offers and give students exposure to the benefits of online education,” says Sister McNicholas.

Video-based lectures and the interactive classroom technology are powered by the University Alliance, a division of Bisk Education, Inc. Prospective students attending the virtual open house will have the opportunity to learn about the Bisk Foundation Teacher Education Scholarship.

The Virtual Open House will be offered on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 5 p.m. CST (6 p.m. EST) and 7 p.m. CST (8 p.m. EST) and will run for 30 minutes, with time allotted at the end for a question-and-answer session.  To register for the Virtual Open House and learn more about Dominican University’s MAEd online programs, visit http://www.dominicanu.com.
