Dominican University Honored with Moral Courage Award, Reports University Alliance

Dominican University received the prestigious Moral Courage Award from Faith in Public Life, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the voice of progressive faith leaders.

The award recognizes Dominican’s support for undocumented students pursuing higher education.

In keeping with Catholic social teaching, the university helps undocumented students in myriad ways, including immigration reform support and its privately funded scholarship program for qualified undocumented youth.

In addition, Associate Professor of Education Samina Hadi-Tabassum works with Teach for America to help undocumented students gain classroom experience while pursuing their degrees. The River Forest, Illinois-based University is one of Teach for America’s most significant Chicago area partners.

With a reputation for academic excellence on campus, U.S. News and World Report-ranked Dominican offers the same quality education through its 100% online Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) degree programs.

These include Master of Arts in Education: Elementary Education; Master of Arts in Education: Elementary Education; Master of Arts in Education: Reading; and Master of Arts in Education: English as a Second Language (ESL).

Dominican University’s 100% online programs allow students to pursue their education anytime, anywhere, while balancing family and work demands.

“At Dominican University, we are committed to providing the opportunity to undocumented students and the highest quality education to all students,” said Colleen Reardon, Ed.D, Dean of the School of Education at Dominican. “Our 100% online programs support the professional development of talented teachers in a convenient, accessible format.”
